This interesting photo provides a key link between our Davis family and the mystery photo we have in our collection of a General Merchandise Store owned by John Zaddock Cacy, the future husband of Rhoda. The young woman on the left is Rhoda W. Cline and on the right, Laura Elizabeth Davis. The original appeared to be an old postcard type picture, with handwriting on the back in the hand of Laura Davis indicating that Rhoda is her cousin, not her sister, as believed in the family for a very long time, based upon this picture.
While not a particularly clear picture, it still provides enough detail that we can see a similarity between this image of Rhoda and the young woman standing to the left of the doorway of the store in our mystery photo. Do you agree?
This picture appears to have been taken while they were still probably single young ladies in their teens, so our best guess is that it was taken in Chickasaw Nation, Indian Territory in the mid 1890s.
