Walnut Grove Presbyterian Church

This church was established about 1852 in Collin County, Texas [about 5 miles SE of present day Celina].  One of the charter families was that of Caleb Hart.   His home had provided the first meeting place for a Presbyterian service in the history of Collin County, beginning about 1847.  Later, he was a circuit-rider preacher.

This photo was taken by the author in August, 1978 on a family history trip.  At the time, it was a Texas State Historical site with monthy worship services still being held.

In April, 2001, the author was back in the area for the first time since 1978 and had hoped to join the local congregation for Easter Sunday worship.  He was saddened to find the church was no longer in existence.  He has been unable to determine what became of it.
