This nice portrait shows David A. and Mary Henrietta (Smithson) Welborn. It appears to have been taken later in their lives, so we can speculate it was taken sometime after 1880 in Pilot Point, Denton Co., Texas.
Finding this photo provided the key to solving the long-standing mystery of our Welborn ancestry. It was labelled simply on the back with "Uncle David and Aunt Mary" and was found in the possession of a granddaughter of our Sarah, Mrs. Nita Overton, daughter of Ruth Ann (Hart) Pipkin, in Lubbock, Texas. This find was made during a visit to Mrs. Overton in April 2001 by Sidney Field, a great-granddaughter of Sarah, living in Lubbock.
